I am beyond heartbroken, overwhelmed, and exhausted with grief for my beloved community. The Eaton fires swallowed us whole. While my house was miraculously spared, the majority of homes in my neighborhood were burned to the ground. Our favorite neighborhood spots—everything that made Altadena special—were wiped away in a matter of hours.
I can’t access my home, and even if I could, the conditions are unlivable. I am surrounded by rubble, toxic waste, lingering fumes, no electricity, and no potable water. My studio and inventory still need to be assessed for damage, but for now, I have NO home, NO office, and NO studio. As a single parent, the fundamental necessities I rely on to provide for my daughter have been taken from me—her school, too, has burned to the ground.
So many of you have asked how you can help. Below, you will find a few ways to support me during this transitional time as I figure out where to go and how to rebuild for myself and my daughter.
